5G Radiation and Skin Cancer

While there are plenty of studies that examine the effects of radio waves with higher frequencies on the health of humans, they have remained largely small in the scope. The effects could extend to the skin as well as other organs, including the brain.

A new generation of wireless technology, called 5G, is rapidly expanding However, researchers are warning of its potential health hazards. 5G technology is expected to significantly increase the quantity of electromagnetic radiation that is found in our environment. This is a concern that has led to debates in a variety of countries which includes Switzerland. In September 2017 390 scientists and doctors supported a motion for an end to 5G deployment. The motion was not taken seriously by the European Commission, which is responsible for regulating the use of 5G technology.

Monitoring exposure to 5G radiation is a crucial aspect of the security of 5G networks. There are two methods to measure exposure. One involves measuring RF power absorption by human tissue. The other involves measuring the amount of radiofrequency energy released by an object. Radiofrequency energy (RF) is an energy field that originates from radio transmitters.

The United States, the FCC has implemented a limit on the energy density of mobile devices running 5G. The tests are able to measure power density at just several inches, and the FCC does not require measurements of every beam. However, how much power is generated by each beam can be determined through computer simulation. The most likely scenario is then determined based on the configuration of each beam.

Limitations of the study


There has been a lot of discussion over the impact of 5G radiation on the health of people. For instance, the Swiss government, for example, has produced an assessment that concludes that 5G technology does not cause negative health consequences in the short-term, but there are no studies which have shown long-term effects. But, the report contains several issues that include biased reporting.



The strength and frequency of the radio waves that generate energy are determined by the frequency. The energy carried by a millimetre waves will be similar to the frequency of radio waves currently, but they are much less visible and will be better suited for high-density environments because they cannot be easily block by walls or glass. Urban areas with high density would require a high number of tiny, low-power sites and suburban areas will be better served by 5G stations that operate at lower frequency.
